Kevin grew up in a military family, living many places in the US and abroad. At age 6 during a cross-country move, he first observed the dramatic changes in landscape going West and began to draw what he saw from the backseat of the family car. He was fascinated by the shape and silhouettes of distant mountains and trees and how the light interacted with them.
After settling in Florida as a teenager, Kevin pursued an art education and graduated with a degree in Studio Art from Florida State University. He later attended The Portfolio Center in Atlanta, Georgia with a focus on advertising art direction.
After a long, award-winning career in advertising as an art director and creative director, he returned to his fine arts roots and began focusing full-time on painting. Lessons from his advertising career like “keep it simple” and “less is more” are reflected in his choices of subject and composition. His painting style is impressionistic, avoiding excess detail in favor of loose brushstrokes and unblended color to try and capture a feel or mood created by the interaction of light and form.
He currently paints from his home studio in Massachusetts.
